Weber For pencil beam scanning the most studied method to mitigate the dose delivery uncertainties due to the organ motion is rescanning. Achieving an optimal treatment for a moving target by volumetric rescanning, where the whole tumour volume is scanned multiple times, requires a fast switch between energy layers, a feature which is available at PSI Gantry 2. In volumetric rescanning the spot weight is reduced proportionally to the number of rescans; if the spots weight is below the minimum deliverable weight, it will be skipped, thus impairing the efficacy of rescanning. We supplement a well-known volumetric rescanning algorithm with a smart functionality which allows us to control the delivered spot weight by reducing the number of rescans for spots below a given monitor
